As most of us know a marathon is 26.2 miles. When someone commits to such an event there is usually a point at which an underlying curiosity is converted to a conscious decision. A spark from the brain; carried down through the heart, and in some cases the pit of your stomach...

a reason is born.

“Something tells me I can do this. I need to challenge myself again. I feel the need to compete. This is the goal I have been looking for. I am not too old for this, am I? If my boss can do it, I know I can” …

a reason is born.

People run for a variety of reasons, but not all races support a variety of runners.

This is precisely why the Omaha Marathon is different.

We don’t claim to be the biggest, fastest, or even the best. What we are is a race that offers a variety of reasons, for runners at all levels of experience.

  • Want a challenge? Omaha is not quite as flat as most think, the bluffs are waiting, the winds are calling, test your endurance.
  • First timer? No better place to meet real runners, and truly learn what the sport is all about.
  • Tuning up for another race? Hit the ground running here!
  • Weekend Getaway? Activities for all at a reasonable price await. Good people, great food, and real fun … a reason is born.

What is your reason?

Bald Buddies

This year to celebrate the marathon's 35th Anniversary, we invite you to join race director, Susie as she donates her hair to Locks Of Love on race morning, 9/26/10.  What a great way to "Go Green" in a truly natural sense...one strand at a time.

If you would like to help Susie's other passion, Leukemia / Lymphoma Society, Click here to read about her "Bald Buddy" Julie Peterson, who has challenged Susie to shave her head race morning and then hand her hair to Locks Of Love; That is, if they raise $10,000 for LLS.

For more information about Locks of Love, log onto www.locksoflove.org.
